The restoration of the Brandon Town Hall is now well under way, with almost $500,000 raised in grants and donations, large and small, and some major projects completed--including the construction of elegant marble steps to the main entrance (donated by Omya, Inc.), the renovation of the lobby area, the installation of wheelchair-accessible lift and the installation of a new fire-suppression system. With the installation of the fire-suppression system, we can now use the Town Hall for public events from May through October every years. The next step, for which we're raising money now, is to build new efficient and accessible bathrooms, and install the audiovisual equipment needed to support a regular schedule of events. Finally, we hope to install a new heating and air-conditioning system and make practical and cosmetic improvements to the interior of the building so that it will be adaptable to a wide variety of uses--from theatrical productions to film screenings to public meetings--all year round. NOTE: the order of project phases may change (for example, the installation of a fire-suppression system, now Phase 2, is described in the plan as Phase 5) due to code or grant requirements or for other reasons, and cost estimates may also change due to inflationary and market forces.
